Whitney and Megan are back at NWMSU for the fall. Lanny is coaching tennis at William Jewell in Liberty, and I am beginning my 25th school year at Osborn.

God is so good. We have had a great summer, enjoyed having the girls home, and even were able to take a vacation with Lanny's family. All 10 0f us traveled south for 4 days in Branson getting to know each other again. Lanny and I celebrated 25 years of marriage on August 11th.

We have a new little one in our family on the Murdock side, one more coming in November, and are looking forward to the union of my oldest nephew, Steve, and his fiance, Jennifer, in November.

Our church family is blessed, also. Although our loved pastor and his family have gone to South Asia on the mission field, we are experiencing growth in our church. We are beginning building projects that will ultimately allow room for all the wonderful new families joining us in serving our Lord.

Many, many people are suffering with health afflictions, lost jobs, and broken hearts. Please take time to show them God's love, and pray that each and every one will feel His presence even today.

OCTOBER 5, 2009 -- This is my nephew, Steve, three weeks after he had an accident at work as a chunk of concrete and asphalt fell on him in a trench breaking a vertebre in his lower back and several ribs. After a 12-hour surgery at St. Luke's on September 25th, he is walking with just a cane and ready to go home. The doctors placed rods, plates, and screws in his back, then turned him over and entered his abdomen placing more metal in the front to connect and support his spine.

Steve is Lisa's oldest son. Thanks for all your prayers, concerns, and calls. He is doing better than the doctors expected, and we are thankful to God for His protection and blessing on our boy.

On Thursday, Megan will move into her new home at Phillips hall at NWMSU. Then, Whitney will head up on Friday to move into her room at Tower Suites. Although Whitney began taking classes to be a teacher, both girls are now looking at Nursing. They are both so excited. Almost all of their friends have moved in. They are trying to remain patient, but just really can't wait.

This year, even though they are both going, I feel more calm and peace than last year. I guess it might be partly because I know I survived when Whitney went last fall, but I also know that it's a lot about attitude. I have had good friends who have leveled with me about the way I approached the separation issue. If I make it about me, then it hurts, it's hard, and it's impossible. Realizing that the girls are moving on with their lives when they go to college, not "leaving" me, makes a real difference.

So, as they go, I'm trying to look forward this time when Lanny and I can figure out a new routine, learn to be just "us" again, and focus on what God would like me to focus on. He is good to show me how blessed I am, He is drawing me closer to Him, and He assures me, He is all I need.

Monday, June 29th, KCI airport, 4:10 p.m., Delta/KLM...Lanny, Whitney, and Andrew depart. The piles of clothes, medication, and other items are stacked around the house...Lanny has given me several "lists" of things to remember to do while they are gone. Whitney is rummaging through the basement looking for the "overseas" straightener for her hair...and almost EVERY day, a trip to Wal-mart brings more stuff into our home that must make the trip over there.

Destination -- Galati, Romania...where they will call home for 28 days. They are all looking forward to their trip and the plans God has for them. God has put in their hearts a love for the nationals there.

Please pray for their safety, health, and guidance from Our Father...

Hey, guys, Nathan here. This past week, my daddy took some of the FBC party animals to Spring Jubilee in Branson, MO. Mom is studying about a lady in the Bible named Esther, so I got to hang out with Mr. Lanny (and Lila, too). We had the best time...started with soft tacos at El Maguey and ate lots of chips and salsa. Then we headed to "Gaskin Robbins" for ice cream. I had chocolate fudge...man, was it good!!! Mr. Lanny made me laugh so hard the melted ice cream dripped out of my mouth. Not sure Mom and Dad would like that??? Next we headed to Mr. Jeff's office for Mr. Lanny to do some Kairos work. I got to play with the toys there and eat laffy taffy. We finally landed at Mr. Lanny's about 9:00 where Lila and I looked at musical instruments and videos on the laptop. I really like the drum sets and guitars...it was fun!!!

Mr. Lanny likes to pretend he doesn't like to hang out with kids...but I know that he does!!!

Look really close...try to focus...can you see it...can you see their eyes...it's so clear, isn't it? This is how I view the last 19 years of my life. Some of it is a blurr like the picture. Right now, I can't believe I am the mother of these two beautiful girls, 19 and almost 18 years old. Did I do all I could to show them love? Did I teach them enough so they can survive in this world? Did I do my part in teaching them about being a friend, a wife, and a mother? Did I give them the tools they need to make the choices they will encounter?

One thing I did try to give them is the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. I believe it's the MOST important thing I could give them. See, I won't always be here, and even if I could be, I'm not perfect, I've made my mistakes, and I'm not the example they need.

About this time last year, I posted a blog describing my feelings in preparation for her sister's graduation. They are back...but this time, it's a little easier. I guess time really does help. I've learned a few lessons over the past year about letting go, loving, and losing. I sure will miss Megan next year as she heads to Maryville. If I just had one more child to experience this with, I think I could get this down pat.

So proud of you, Megan Rae, and can't wait to see what God and the future holds for you...it's your turn now...

We hung up the gown last night so the wrinkles could work themselves out. The mortar board and tassel are lying on the dresser as is the fake white collar and stickers to attach it. We have ordered the cake, the invitations are sent, and the date for our orientation at NWMSU is June 23rd. She has received the necessary vaccinations and signed up for dorms. She got a really cute dress to wear under the gown, and I think we are ready...

God, please protect her heart as she learns to live in this world on her own...
God, please guide her as she makes decisions...
God, please strengthen her walk with You daily...
God, please comfort her when she needs to feel You close...
God, please hold her hand when I can't...
And, God, thank you for giving her to me...what a special gift!

Megan is so excited to be graduating from Cameron High School next month. I recognize the "illness" from having a Senior last year. I must say, though, Senioritis for Megan has come on gradually instead of taking me by surprise. It's amazing to me that I have two grown daughters, and it's hard to imagine next year with them both at college. While this chapter closes and another opens, it's exciting thinking about what the next year will bring. One thing I do know, I'm glad dogs don't go to college!!!

He passed away at the age of 35 and would be 49 now, but will always be with me in my heart. He was more than just a brother to me. He was a special friend who listened to me, loved me, and helped me every day. I want to celebrate his life tomorrow and pray that God will give me a day of good memories and peace.

Megan's senior night tonight sure was a reminder that we started out the "two" of us, and soon it will be the "two" of us again. She graduates in May and then in August, both girls will be roaming the campus at NWMSU in Maryville, MO. It's amazing how quickly they went from little ladies to young women. I'm amazed every day at the blessing God gave us in Whitney and Megan...so proud of you girls!!!

Megan has decided to attend college at NWMSU next fall. That means:

a. All our money is going north.

b. Scrambling is our key word now as we get her signed up for everything.

c. I only have to worry about the weather in one other part of the state besides Cameron.

e. And, I will sleep better knowing my girls are roaming the same campus, though they will probably not see each other more than they do now.

Good thing I love my dog!!! It's way too quiet here again. Whitney just left with the Honda packed to the roof to go back to NWMSU. Megan and Abigail are out "running errands" which I am sure include a trip to Wal-mart, something to eat, and perhaps a movie...and Lanny is at Butler with the Dragon Wrestling team. So here we are, Nike and me, on the couch under the "fuzzy" blanket, catching up on school paperwork.

I didn't even cry when Whitney left, probably because I was in front of 40 friends at a baby shower, but at least that's a step in the right direction.

I am thankful today to God who is so good to me...

I received this in an email and just love it...hope you find joy and comfort in it like I did...

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? I never noticed this.......

John 20:7 tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early that Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, "They have taken the Lord's body and I don't know where they have taken Him!”

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the napkin that had covered Jesus face was folded up and lying to one side.

Is that important? Absolutely! Is that really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about the Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the Servant set the dinner table for the Master, he made sure it was exactly the way the Master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the Master had finished eating. The Servant would not dare touch that table until the Master was finished.

I did not know this....

If the Master got up from the table, and folded his napkin beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because....The folded napkin meant, "I'm coming back!"

I'm amazed at how quickly time passes the older we get. It's so funny to think back when the girls were little and how I would find myself "wishing" they could do things for themselves. And, now all of a sudden, they are grown young women searching for their path in life. I am so thankful they are healthy, happy, and ambitious young women and that they have God in their lives. I pray that they find much happiness, health, and a stronger relationship with Jesus in 2009...

I heard a dear friend praying this week, and he said, "God, help us to always do what honors You."

We are so concerned about following all the guidelines, rules, suggestions, etc. Haven't you heard these comments way too many times:

Ask yourself, "is it good for the children?"
Have you hugged your kid today?
What have you done for your marriage today?
Do you know where your kids are?
Help those who can't speak for themselves.
Stand up for what you believe in.
Treat others as you want to be treated.

The list goes on and on, but do we really need all those? If we will just "do what honors God", doesn't that take care of everthing? If we follow that one idea, we will treat our families, friends, neighbors, and even enemies with the love that God so graciously gives to us.

Loving, gracious Father, help me to do today and always "what honors You."

PUGGLE PRINCIPLES

We are sure learning a lot from our little Puggles. The four girls are the two-year olds whose parents are working in other areas in the Awana program at our church. It's amazing what you can learn from a little one.

Some of the things I have learned are:

a) it's hard to share, but with a little encouragement and will, you can make it work.

b) as long as we have a little something to eat, a warm place to be, and things to keep our hands busy, we can stay out of trouble pretty good. It's when one of those things are taken away that we get cranky.

c) people we love come and go quickly in our lives, but somebody who loves you will always come back to get you.

d) friends don't let friends "go" alone. The buddy system is always best.

e) it's best to put things back where you got them so you can find them later when you need them.

f) if you are feeling scared, alone, or unhappy, look around for a shoulder to cry on...

g) and last but certainly not least, GOD MADE ME, so I must be worth it...

A lot can be learned from a two-year old Puggle...

This is Nike, but he has received a new nickname while Whitney has been home. He is now her little "Woobie". She misses him more than me, her dad, and Megan put together. They have spent a lot of time together, and she is still trying to figure out how she could take him back with her for the two weeks she has left this semester. He follows her around constantly, and I know he loves her just like she loves him.

Be patient, little Woobie, she will be home for a month next time...

WOW!!! Remember these two weighing in at almost 3 and almost 2 pounds at birth? He (front) weighs about 10 pounds now, and she is right behind at 9 pounds. God is so good to give these little ones health. They are growing every day and such a blessing. According to Mom and Dad, their lungs are VERY WELL DEVELOPED. Have you heard the saying, "Just when you think you have all the answers in life, they change the questions." Can't figure out why life is so full of ifs, thens, and buts!!! We don't really realize how one simple little comment, decision, or action can change our life or the life of someone around us forever, do we?

To me, it's like bull riders. Sure they know he is going to buck, and yes, they know the ride will be unpredictable, and they soon find themselves in the dirt. They get on the bull knowing what can happen and accepting the outcome that is inevitable.

So, as random as this post is, I guess I'm realizing that as hard as it is to relinquish the reins to God in all aspects of my life, I must. It sure doesn't work to have two drivers, and I'm not doing so good at steering anyway.

If you figure out what I'm trying to say, please let me know???

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we are so blessed at Cameron FBC to have three of the most Godly pastors anywhere serving us. My little brother, Lawrence Douglas, was born when I was just 13 months old. My mother and father already had Lesley Dennis--a three year old, Lisa Diane--a two year old, and me--Lila Denise. We were close not only in age, but in relationship, too. I'm thanking God today for my parents, brothers, and sister, and the love we share.
